The Kings had a special visitor to their rehearsal this evening - Tony Danser. The Danser family were instrumental in bringing Barbershop to the UK. Tony’s father (Harry) and brother John saw a quartet singing in 'The Music Man' in New York in 1958 and introduced Tony to the style of harmony. Tony and John formed the first UK barbershop quartet in November 1960 and the family went on to found 'The Crawley Chordsmen' chorus in 1964. Some of our current members became members of that chorus in the following years.
Tony spent the whole evening with us, reviewing the extensive library of memorabilia collected over the years,  and singing polecats with the chorus, but we couldn't let him escape without seeing if he could still direct.

As you can see from the YouTuvbe video, he can still lead from the front!
